LFW Day 2.

I headed down to Somerset house just to mingle and network, unfortunately, (if you'd like) I ended up going alone. Anyone who has ever been down to LFW without a pass or ticket to anything by themselves will understand my struggle, my greatest fear was "who is going to take pictures of me for my blog?!?" My plan was to get down there watch a couple of shows on the big screen, snap some street fashion, just see what's happening.





As a student it is so vital to stay in your field, read around, luckily for us as fashion students whether it's design, contour, footwear, accessories or buying etc our extra reading is getting to immerse ourselves in one of the world's biggest events. 








First I circled, saying hi to anyone I recognise from social networks before having a look in the book shop, now I've been down to Somerset before but honestly this time I was slightly taken aback by the amount of people complimenting me or requesting a street fashion snap. This was the first year I have worn something I had designed and made myself so there's a great sense of pride when you are praised for your art, especially something you whipped up just the night before. 














I went textures and comfort for my outfit, having no idea how long I'd be out. Leatherette on silk in some comfy, but cute, shoes.

I've been itching to use that patterned silk for something for weeks, but it was so small a swatch I didn't want to waste it, I'm so happy with how it turned out. The jacket, a cheap leatherette, which I hadn't even had the time to line, probably won't last but as I've received so many compliments on it I will make it a point of duty of remaking it in a GH Leather to do it justice, same for the bag. 







Whilst sitting on a step waiting for a show I was asked to be interviewed by SpiceTV Africa (www.myspice.tv). The team were a lovely bunch of four passionate black students and entrepreneurs all under 25. Their gorgeous presenter Mercedes (@Mercedesfbenson) and three gentlemen branching from the photography and film field; Bradley (@Braaados.eldk) Cornelius (@MrCWalker) and Israel (@Israelpeters) were kind enough to let me stick around with them though I definitely over stayed my welcome. It was very uplifting to spend some time with them as young freelance artists who are making things happen, so thank you to them. However suffice to say I'm quite the awkward turtle in interviews. 










I'm hoping to head back down on Tuesday weather permitting and do the same thing, totally worth the lovely day.
